You just gotta believe they can make a comeback! I know it looks pretty unlikely, but hey, they've done it before!

After having gone 12-3 and only picking up 6 games and finding themselves now 11.5 behind has got to be emotionally draining to them. They stand little chance of catching the Red Sox and they are 6.5 back in the Wild Card with some very strong teams ahead of them so it doesn't look pretty right now. But it is a long season and anything can happen.

Bingo's mommy couldn't be more wrong in her appraisal of the situation. Posada is not the strongest defensive catcher in the league but he is having a career season at the plate. Trading him right now would be the final nail in the Psyche coffin for the Yankees and would end their season for sure.

In addition you MUST have quality pitching to win in the Major Leagues; defense will beat offense almost every day and pitching is the single biggest component of defense.

The player the Yankees need to get rid of is A Rod. He is arguably the greatest player in the history of the game (and deserves the accolades that come along with that) but if you look at his track record every team he has left IMPROVED the following season.

I Believe the wild card will be either Detroit or Cleveland, which means the Yankees will have to finish ahead of the Red Sox to make the playoffs. The have a real up hill climb but they have a chance.

I hope not, they were coming back but they just lost 2 to the Giants I believe it was. They won't catch the Redsox so they will have to start battling for a wild card, which will be tough for them to get to. I would be happy to see the Yankees NOT get in because I like to see a world series won not bought.

They will not catch the Red Sox for the division and Cleveland and Detroit have better staring pitching then the Yankees so my answer is NO

The Yankees have the ability to make it to the playoffs. They have so much offensive talent that they don't need superb pitching. They need okay pitching and they need for their offense to be consistent. Defensively, they may need to consider trading Posada for a catcher who won't allow a runner into scoring position with a stolen base. Other teams have figured out that Posada is pretty weak behind the plate and are totally taking advantage.

Yanks needs consistent offense, okay pitching and a new catcher if they are going to make the playoffs this year.

It's not looking good for them. With the Redsox playin' the way they are, winning the division is virtually OUT! BUT with a 2nd-half collapse by the Indians like they did in 2005, and their own "Athletics-like" 2nd half...nothing's impossible. They just gotta hope that the A's don't have an Athletics-like 2nd half. To answer the q... looks like a NO.

It's looking more and more unlikely. There are too many other teams battling it out for 2nd place in divisions like the AL West and AL Central. Cleveland, for one. Then there's Minnesota. Then Oakland and the Mariners too. It's gonna be a tough one for the Yanks this year and they'll need to turn it around FAST!

no chance with the division but an outside shot at the wild card, yet i still believe that the blue jays will outplay them the rest of the way.
