I was wondering, is it legal in Ontario, Canada to smoke at an outdoor concert? I was at one a couple nights ago where there were a lot of smokers...which irked me a bit, because I'm mildly asthmatic and it was making me cough. Are they even allowed to do that?

It wasn't driving me crazy or anything... I just found it a little annoying. Also, I thought it was odd, because Ontario has some of the most stringent anti-smoking laws out there.

There were people smoking cigarettes as well as pot...but I was referring to tobacco, since I know it's illegal to smoke weed.

I was just asking because I mentioned it to someone and they insisted that it was illegal, and I thought it wasn't. So it's mostly out of curiousity.

There is no provincial prohibition, but you may want to check local by-laws for the city in which you live.

Yes, yes the outdoors is the LAST place we smokers are allowed to still smoke so can you please give us that! If it was a covered area, sometimes the venue asks you to move out of the cover, but in the plain old outdoors we can smoke. If you don't like the smell of it I suggest you move a few steps away.

Yes, they can do that if the person holding the event permits them to do so. It's up to the event coordinator. If you have a problem with it, go to indoor concerts only. Smokers have rights too.

What were they smoking? You might not be able to smoke cigarettes but I doubt you can keep people from smoking pot. They've tried for decades and they still can't stop it.

If it was not legal, they would have been asked to extinguish their cigarettes and if they had not complied would have been removed.
