The life span of any aquarium fish is heavily dependent on the quality of care it receives. The better you care for the fish with clean water, care to avoid introducing disease and proper diet will make all the difference in the long run. Many well cared for Blood Parrots reach 8-10 years in tanks.

The life span of this type of fish is typically about 10 years. Her are some things to do to make sure that the fish stays alive and healty.
* keep the water between 72 and 82 degrees
* feed regularly but do not over-feed (these fish do great with fish food flakes that are sold at petstores)

He's a bleedin' he ain't gonna live very long. Back in my day there weren't no crazy flyin' parrot fish. Fish swam, and birds flew. I had a pet fish, he lived in the creek near my house, cute lil' ole thing... I named 'em diner, he tasted so good too.

i have heard that it can vary because that fish isnt a pure breed it is a hybrid fish but the average is i beleive, with proper care and tank setups, around 7-10 years. now you will want to keep up with you water changes and also you will want to check your water levels every day, every couple days depending how anal you get. you ammonia, nitrite should be at 0 and your nitrates should never go above 30ppm but you should ideally have them at 0 also.
