I doubt the Lacrosse thing was politically motivated. Perhaps Nifong is just a jerk that got caught up in a frenzy of that case. As an attorney he shouldn't be quite as passionate as he was but he was and now he pays the price. Everyone makes mistakes. If Mr. Nifong learns from his mistake and moves on he will be alright. If he doesn't he will be in for much more angst in his life.

I consider Mike Nifong an arrogant man who put his own ambitions above the welfare of others. I don't have to remind you that he is a Democrat, as everyone has already done that, so your question is completely without merit. FYI The Democrat that Nifong ran against was in the Primary not the General Election (read your own source, it's helpful if you know what you're talking about).

Nifong is a democrat. So I would say no.
He IS a Democrate

"60 Minutes" never mentioned during is two-part segment on the Duke case broadcast last Sunday night that the Duke case is a Democrat scandal. But, IT IS! Durham County, North Carolina is a Democrat bastion; Durham County's appointed District Attorney Michael B. Nifong is a Democrat; the North Carolina Governor (Michael Easley) who appointed Mr. Nifong is a Democrat; and North Carolina Attorney General (Roy Cooper) who has not intervened in the interests of justice, is a Democrat

Since you appear to be in denial, let me make it simple:
The corrupt District Attorney from North Carolina who resigned today after screwing up really, really badly in his attempt to score points with black people by persecuting some rich white boys is a Democrat. He ran as a Democrat and won the election. As a Democrat.
Just in case you were wondering, he is a Democrat. Lying and misrepresenting the facts for political gain is what Democrats like Nifong do, only this guy slipped up and got caught.
However, since the Drive-By Media would never reveal to their mostly ignorant audience that Mike Nifong, the lying, disgraced, pathetic excuse for a District Attorney is a Democrat, I'm here to do it. You can bet your *** that if Nifong was a Republican, CNN would identify him as "Republican District Attorney Mike Nifong" instead of just "District Attorney Mike Nifong".
Mike Nifong, out-of-control overzealous prosecutor. Kind of like Republican U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald. Only Nifong is a Democrat.
Democrat Mike Nifong. The Democrat from North Carolina. Resigned today in disgrace.
Just so you don't have to tax yourself by clicking and reading.

Regardless of his party affiliation, I consider Michael Nifong's legal woes an example of Michael Nifong's arrogance and misconduct. What does political affiliation have to do with this? If he was 6'5", would you say that this was another example of tall peoples' arrogance and misconduct?

Is it GOP arrogance and misconduct by wanting this DEMOCRAT to be held accountable for his actions?!?
This questions is a little confusing, can you please explain it further. According to your own link, Nifong was a Democrat, so I am not sure how this would relate to any sort of arrogance or misconduct on the part of the GOP . . . nice try though.

Your hatred and ignorance just made you look totally stupid.
Nifong is a Dem, genius. Just because he ran against a Dem doesn't automatically make him a Con. Two Dems can run against each other you know.
The only reason he did what he did was because Durham has a large African American community and he wanted to look like a hero in their eye's.
Typical Lib fashion.

Dude, I consider Mike Nifong to be such a white apologist that he feels himself a hero putting innocent white boys to prison. Mike, Sharpton, and Jesse didn't get their way.
Unlike O.J. sometimes justice prevails. But it cost the families a hell of a lot of money. And cost that piece of schit Nifong his job. Good riddance.

No. I do not think political affiliation (Nifong is a Dem) had anything to do with it. I just think he listened to Al Sharpton and thought he could make a name for himself by jumping on a race issue and getting televised for it. Nifong was stupid enough to stoop to Sharpton's tactics forgetting all along he was bound by oath where as Sharpton is NEVER held accountable for his actions.
Has nothing to do with political affiliation and everything to do with ignorance, stupidity and greed (sounds like politics doesn't it?).

I live for brilliant, insightful questions such as this! Thanks for brightening up my day.
Nifong being a democrat has little bearing on his actions. And, his actions have no bearing on his party membership. He simply, IMO, got overwhelmed with a case that was too large for him to handle appropriately. Would not have mattered whether he was repub or dem.
