Two simple things are in your PC to clean up the temporary files. One is Disk Defragmenter, located in the Accessories folder, another one is Disk Cleanup, located also in the Accessories folder. The Disk Cleanup, deletes the temporary files and other stuff, while the Disk Defragmenter, helps make your computer faster and work better. Neither need Internet connection, or any special thing to work, and they are right there in your PC, without the hassle of downloading. CCleaner is good, but, if you want to keep it simple, just use the Disk Cleanup and Defragmenter. Hope this helps!

If they know how to do it they can find any of your unwanted files even after you delete them but you should go to the tools on the right hand side of you Internet browser if you have the newest version of Internet explorer and click on it. It will have delete browsing history near the top click on that to delete. You should compress and defragment your computer. You can do this by going to the control panel and choosing the option of performance and maintenance. click on it to clean up and defragment disk space.

a good start id a program called "CCleaner". Go to FileHippo.com and do a search for it. It'll delete temporary internet files and other unwanted things. You can find others that go more in depth but thats a good place to start.

There is a way easier path to doing this and more, just download the freeware on google called "ccleaner" it fixes registry issues and cleans every thing up from missing or corrupt dll's up to the undecent websites you looked at the other day.

Theoretically the temp internet files should increase the performance of the internet because the computer has a local cached copy of whatever it is trying to load. But on another note...if you are having speed issues you should try running some ad-aware scanners. I recommend SuperAntiSpyware and SpyBot Search And Destroy.

There's a disk cleanup program in Accessories, which will do most of this.
If you really don't want your friend to see sensitive files you'll need specialist software that 'shreds' files.
