Yes, Emo is short for emotional, but it's also a genre of music. Hence it has it's own attendant fashions, hence it's own styles.

I'll take a guess that it is a hair style worn to resemble one of the bands classified as EMO....like the singer in AFI's hair, or the singer in My Chemical Romance...

"EMO" is just a short term word for "emotional". So I don't understand how a haircut can be "Emo".
