That really depends on how well made a strong the dresser is. I have seen up to 55 gallon tanks on dressers before, but personally I don't think I would go over a 20 gallon unless I knew the dresser was really well made.

Well what I do is figure out how much weight I am going to end up with...each gallon of water is about 7 and a half lbs. I always round up and then add lbs of the tank with gravel. And do remember you will be doing fresh water changes...fish tanks mean messing with water and you wouldn't want to damage anything that is important to you. So you can figure a 20 gal. will run around 200lbs more or less. That is a lot of stress placed on a dresser.

You'll have to take your best guess at the weight rating of the dresser, but you can assume your tank will weigh about 8 pounds/gallon (because of decorations, this estimate will be a little high). That's the weight of water. So, for example, your 29 gallon tank would weigh around 230 pounds. Good luck.

I have a 28 gallon bow front on a dresser and it is just fine. My 50, though, is on a specially designed stand -- it is 400 lbs so I would not suggest doing more than 20-something gallons on a dresser. My dresser is old and sturdy and real wood, but it is nothing special.

depends on the dresser really, but i wouldnt reccomend it. that being said i ahve put a 29 on a dreeser, but the only real test is to put the tank there and fill it with water if it breaks, or bows in anywhere your outtra luck, even a 1/16" is to much, no bowing, if it cannot hold the weight go with a smaller tnak or an aquarium stand. try to wobble it, ect make sure its going to stay.

i think it depends on the desk and dresser. if you and a friend can sit on it then it will probably support the weight. they make aquarium stands now that look more like a regular piece of furniture and they are put together about as well as the standard target desk.

Depends on the size of the dresser or desk. As long as it's sturdy and doesn't make the furniture top heavy, you can go as large as you'd like.
