Why would you want to keep a wild animal for a pet?. You are just creating a market for unscrupulous dealers who ship these poor animals over here often in terrible conditions - shame on you.

Oh not again! OK, I may sound like a wet blanket but you seriously can't keep a capuchin monkey. It's nothing personal or anything but if you really care about them it would be best not to get one. Buying a monkey will only encourage the "business" and most of the people who sell exotic animals do not treat them exceptionally well. I work with different species of monkeys and lemurs and I can say that you can't leave a monkey alone in a house or apartment and stuffing it in a small cage is highly unethical.

If you want to learn more about monkeys and how they exist in their natural habitat, I highly suggest that you visit a local AZA approved zoo (maybe even talk with some of the zookeepers), visit some websites, and find out more. I'll leave some below for you : ).

Once again, I may sound crazy by doing this, but when you see what people will do to these animals, you're never the same again.

Have a baby instead, they're a lot easier to care for and don't trouble you for quite so long.

Don't make a fool of yourself by thinking wild animals make good pets. They belong in the wild, where they can take care of themselves. They're specially adapted to being in the wild, not being a toy. They're very social and would want to be with you all the time, also can get posessive. There are charities out there who rescue monkeys who have been bought as pets. Why go for an undomesticated monkey when you can have a dog or a cat that are specially designed to give you what you want? A cat will sit on your shoulder and purr at you - and they'll leave you alone when you don't want to be bothered, unlike a monkey.

Plus the fact that you don't even know what the species is shows your ignorance. If you're to have the strength of character and passion to be able to cope with having half of your life being taken away and replaced by a messy liability, you'd have been interested in monkeys since being very small and know everything about them.

They're fascinating, beautiful animals, but I would hate to see yet another monkey suffer at the hands of a human.

Hi!

Please try to over ride your sense of "cute". Animals are not commodities. My father who was a sailor brought a Capauchin monkey home when I was a kid. I was always sad that the little fellow had been taken from his natural habitat. In the end, he ended up in a zoo, where I would visit. The old keeper was really kind to him. Nevertheless the experience of captivity drove him mad and in the end he leapt onto the old keepers head and took the top of his scalp off. It was a total injustice when they killed him for being "out of control". He never would have been had he stayed in his natural environment.

Keeping an exotic animal as a "pet" is a form of selfish cruelty. It's like agreeing to be the sort of possessive violent man who imprisons a woman by defining her reality as his eye candy. Please think again.

Good wishes.

A monkey is not a pet you would want running around free. I've had two friends who had monkeys. They couldn't wait to get rid of them. They are mean, insect ridden, can't be trained easily, and if you don't put them in a cage they will totally destroy your house. That's what they told me. What I saw of the monkeys I believed them.

They smell, they bite, they crap and pee everywhere, and sit in very high places and scream at you, or jump on you,
And it couldn't roam free for it would be all over the place in no time,
You don't want a monkey!

It is call the Capuchin monkey and i dont think they are sold as pets. If they do then it would come under exotic pets and would be quite expensive. They are also not suppose to be domestic animals and would be very happy if you leave them to live in the wild where nature intended them to live

it's called a cappuchin.
they originate from south america, and are used in films etc becuase they're easily trained to follow orders (they're really clever).

i think it is possible to obtain a lisence to keep one as a pet, but i really would hope that you don't. they belong in the wild, not caged up for your enjoyment.
I helped to look after one last year while in Africa (in a monkey reserve) and although they're cute and funny animals, they're quite unpredictable and take a lot of care and attention.

think carefully? they are not pets.

Monkeys are cute but not the easiest to deal with.
