I assume he's out of the castle now. Keep his water clean and he should recover.
There is a possiblity that the fish went to hide in the castle because he was sick to begin with. Was he healthy the day before the castle accident or has he been lathargic or fin clamping?
Goldfish are notorius for getting into situations. I would remove the castle. It happened once, it can happen again, don't expect the fish to remember what happened to him.
For now check your water to make sure everything is ok. Do a water change if something doesn't look right. Baby him for a while. He could be stressed for a few days, that would be normal. Scales will grow back and fins will heal. Takes time, maybe a month or two. Watch for infection. If you really want to be on the safe side order Medi-Gold from
www.goldfishconnection.com. Its an anti-biotic food that will help boost his immune system, it will lessen his chances for infection. If he happened to be sick before the accident that medicated food will clear that up as well. Its awesome stuff.

My pleco did the same thing!! We had to take a pair of tile cutters and CAREFULLY break the bottom out so that he could get free!
this is how I did it..get a bucket and add enough water from the tank so you can put the castle totally underwater, turn upside down and break the castle bottom pulling the pieces away from the castle..small pieces at a time..good luck!
My pleco was also stuck overnight, and is still alive 2 years later..

Get a large bowl, fill it with water. Carefully remove the castle and place it in the large bowl filled with water. Then break the castle slowly being careful not to break it towards the fish but instead away from the fish.

If you are careful perhaps you can keep this from being his permanent resting place. Good luck!

Moving the castle gently may help to loosen him from it. Depending on what the castle is made from you may be able to break it to free him. Years ago one of my fish got stuck inside a shell in her tank- we got her out successfully and she's still going strong, she's 14 now. I hope you have the same luck with yours!

can you slowly remove the castle from the tank and set the goldfish free - this is the only siuggestion i have as i dont think there is anything you can give him - please DO NOT try oil or washing up liquid to make him slimy as this will kill hm.

Good Luck
