The larger the drive the better. It is always chepaer to buy a large drive now, then to buy a medium to small one and in a year have to go back and buy the large one. I would not consider anything under 100G. Would be a waste of money.
To price them, simple go on line and search. There are dozens of companies with a wide range of prices. Or visit your local electronic store and do some looking.

Try searching online. Costco is selling a small 180gb external for like $150 or something. A 250gb hard drive runs for under $200 now.
It just depends on what you want. Get online and start looking at best Buy, Circuit City, Fry's, Egghead and so on for the one you want.

Costco has a trilobite external memory drive. I think they also have 500 GB, 200 GB, 160 GB, and a 300GB . They are a little pricey but i think they will suit your needs fine. I think the 200 GB or 300 GB will fit your needs fine.

Buy as much as you can afford. The price per gigabyte is so cheap now that you can get, for example, 500GB drives at excellent prices from various vendors. 500 may seem overkill, but that should last you for quite some time.

What was considered overkill a few years ago is barely adequate today. With prices the way they are, get as big a drive as you can afford.
Personally, I wouldn't bother with anything less than 500GB.

40 GB's is enough, but it's better to buy the 80 GB, because the price difference is like 25% more, but u'll get double the size.

As many Mb (or Tb!) as you can afford! Don't worry - it'll be worth it. Apps today seem to chew up tons of hard drive space, so the more you have, the better.
