yes get a flight and find your own place, if your going for a long stay. otherwise, a cheap holiday will suffice, schedule flights can be expensive, then you will have a stop over in mumbai before you can get a flight to Goa. sea fishing is not too good, even going out on the boats is crap.. the fishermen have to take you right out, before you can catch any decent fish, and their not willing to do so.. inland fishing? not to sure about, but as someone said previously, you got to watch out for the snakes and crocs,, ask a local about any lakes that might be possible to fish

You can't do much else but stay relatively close to water because Goa is so small. There's not much decent fishing in Goa these days. An armada of trawlers has managed to clear the ocean during the last 10 years. There are numerous rivers but I know nothing about fishing in them and there are all sorts of hazrds we don't normally encounter like snakes and crocs. You are going towards the end of the season so accommodation will be easy to find. The south is much less spoiled, quieter and more relaxed. If you want to book some accommodation ahead I can recommend Ciarans Camp in Palolem (South Goa) - its more expensive than other places (but still cheap) but standards are much higher and I can even give you the phone number 00 91 832 2643477
