Isn't it amazing how much company time is wasted and people stealing a salary for going online and basically doing personal things?
Although one could argue that, if their work is getting done, they are actually doing a good thing by keeping their mind active and that will only help with their productivity later.
But the key is, are they getting their work done? And why isn't their boss giving them more work, since they are able to complete their tasks quickly enough to have down time?
It's the fault of the business paradigm, however. Most businesses still operate on a visual management mentality. ("If I see people typing away in their cubicles, my vast empire is running smoothly and I am their supreme ruler!")
The better businesses, unfortunately rare, have switched to the "management by objective" paradigm, where employees are given tasks, time estimates to complete them, and then they are on their own. "Get it done on time. Period. I don't care how or where. Just have it done." And then the manager challenges them with more and more aggressive time schedules. The worker can telecommute, they can make their own hours, they can go on Yahoo for all the manager cares. But the assignment has to be done ON TIME with NO EXCUSES.
If people are on here because they work for those types of companies (as I do), good for them.
I'm a contract employee, I get paid per 1/4 hour worked. Right now I'm taking a break, off the clock. I'm go back on the billable clock at 10:30.

Yes - I should be in bed.
Income producing activity is a good incentive for me to say goodnight to you all (that means "going to work" - for those who brain is still engaging from getting up in the morning)
It has just gone past midnight (it is now Tuesday morning )here in the land down under.
Cheers everyone.

The washer & dryer are humming along, the kids are outside where I can see them, and the dog is in his house, so this is going okay for now, but that can change any moment!

Yes!! Goodbye! Oh yeah, thanks for the reminder. My time limit was supposed to be 10:00. I guess I'm on over time now.
Do I get extra points for that?
