I have a '83 S10 4X4 and want to tweak it a bit, but I am not sure what I can and cannot do, it's a 2.8L V6.

There is not too much you can do with that engine. It is a small cubic inch motor and has a weak crank. I used to sell these motors like crazy about 10 years ago. BUT They do make cams,intakes,carbs and exhaust kits for this engine. A double pumper is WAY too much fuel. If you were to use a 4bbl it would have to be very small like a 390cfm up to 450cfm and even those are big for that engine. Here are some links from summit racing to shop for some of these items. a double pumper would be to much fuel for that motor drop a 350 in it

save your money and trade for a 4.3.....you can put 5000 dollars into a 2.8 and it will NOT be as fast as a stock 4.3....Iv owned both...1985 s 10 and now a 1999 4x4....
