Yes I've been there a few times, nice little town off the 15 freeway between San Diego and Temecula. Nothing really to speak of, there is an Indian casino nearby, but outside of a little fishing or hiking not that much to do.

My parents live about 5 minutes away from Poway. Really nice place. Aside from the park at Lake Poway (hiking trails, fishing and boating), there aren't any tourist attractions in Poway itself.

The town has some of the best schools in San Diego County, and has a very good hospital too.

There's a wide variety of housing available. There are many older, reasonably priced neighborhoods, but there are also neighborhoods with $3-4 million houses.

During the summer, Poway is definitely warmer than the coast, but it is a good location for commuting. The drive to Downtown SD on I-15 is very reasonable. Also, there is a relatively new freeway (Highway 56) that connects the Poway area to the coast.

I live about 20 miles from Poway and it's a great San Diego suburb. It is still pretty exclusive and the schools are among the best in the county. Housing is still within reason with homes starting in the mid 500K's(which is standard in San Diego). Poway is home to Pomerado Hospital, which is also top rated in the county. I just think that it's a pretty community.

One of the best schools in the state if not the nation. Quiet. Low Crime. Not a lot of traffic congestion compared to other areas, especially coastal areas. Houses seem a little overpriced considering it's inland, but I guess they're paying for the good school district. Not ideal for a beach lover like myself, but probably a nice place to live if you don't mind being inland somewhat. Depending on what time of day, it can take anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes to get to La Jolla (beach) on 56.

I lived there for 5 years in Sycamore Canyon. The house I rented there was in a citrus orchard and out in what passes for the boonies in So Ca. I loved it. Getting to the freeway took a long time but it was worth it for the peace and quiet of the canyon.

I have since moved to rural southwestern NH and live in more of a neighborhood now than I did then.
