As they are the problem, so they are the solution. Peace cannot be forced on the Middle East from without, especially from a Western culture that they hate. Historically the ancient Near East [Middle East of today] had always been a conflict area and unless people learn to accept each other's differences and realise by accepting a difference you don't embrace it, peace will never reign anywhere in the world, the Middle East is not the only area so affected. Besides, as much as war is to be abhorred, it is responsible for a lot of the technological advancements of the human race. The solution to the Middle East is also in my opinion not a Western style democracy.
On a lighter note, I've always wondered whether its the heat and the desert that drive people slightly mad? ;)

Yes,I like to think that someday there is going to be peace...But first we have to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict...This is the first and most important step to the stabilisation of the Middle East...There are solution and the Arab countries proposed a viable solution this year (which is a peace plan from 2002)...All Israel has to do is to withdraw to the borders from 1967 and allow the creation of a Palestinian state..."Land for peace"...
As for Iraq and Afghanistan:withdraw all the foreign troops as soon as possible from there, end the military occupation (even if we don't call it like this, unfortunately this is what it is) and allow those people to reconstruct their lives without us messing into their countries internal affairs...

im a veteran of the operation iraqi freedom, the only way we will have peace in the middle east is if we pull out or we kill everyone over there, these people have been fighting since time began, and nothing we do is going to stop that, they are not democratic people and they dont think with the same type logic as us western people do. it is all about religion, nothing more than that. and if you ever see how pissed an american gets when you question why they believe in their religion, than multiply that times 1000 and you will understand the mentality in the middle east.

There will never be peace in that region of the world .
There will never be peace in that region of the world .
There will never be peace in that region of the world .
There will never be peace in that region of the world .
It bares repeating until people understand that no peace will ever come to this region of the world as long as more than one religion is present .
No peace will come to the world as long as more then one religion is present .
If people can not see that religion is indeed the cause of all conflicts in the world except for those strictly based on material resources , then we are all doomed at one point or another to conflict .

Well, there hasn't been peace in the Middle East for the last 2,000 years. So, considering that the current situation in Iraq and Israel is grim to say the least, I'd say that the possibility of peace is remote.

Only one of two things will bring peace to the Middle East. Either they will run out of oil or capitalism will be overthrown and the world will turn to socialism as envisioned by Trotsky.

There will never, ever be peace in the middle east. Even if Israel were to disappear today, the Shiites, Sunnis, Kurds, etc will still keep on killing each other all in the name of their religion. It's in their blood.

It has been going on for thousands of years and as long as people aren't willing to accept the differences of others and as long as there is greed there will be conflict.

I don't know. But I do know that it should be mediated by powers who DIDN'T start wars of aggression in the former Yugoslavia and Iraq.
