My site below under Internet Talk has a complete explanaition of using images and a whole lot more. To see the image on a web page, it needs to be on that server as well.
Hope this helps

Your path is wrong, it should be:

This assumes you are starting from the home page and it is a gif and not anything else.

If you are calling images from a sub directory (ie http://www.ackadia.com/web-design/) would be something like this:

Incidentally, remembering the height and with OK, remembering the alt tag, title and closing tag is vastly better:

Fred Flintstone

Covers accessibility and search engine otimitization that way, yep

If your page is called "xxxx.html" and at the same level you have a folder called "image" then your link would be:

Width and height are not needed unless you are altering it.

If the image is not located next to your html page then use the entire address.

MOST pictures are JPG .jpg check to see that the picture extension matches what you put in the image tag! If you have extensions turned off in your "view settings" turn them on.. it makes life much easier.

Also in your link you are using the /images folder.. so your picture has to be in a directory called images under the directory for the page you are viewing. If you image is not located there the computer will not be able to locate it.

Do you have your own domain?

If not you will need an image host to host your image such as
http://photobucket.com/

You will then get the code you need to link the image

See the file type and then try to insert it with a absolute path like- "C:/images/nyactor298.giff".

OK.
