yes it is possible to get legal aid on a low income. Depends how low though. Seek advice from the CAB or solicitor. they should be able to tell you.
There is also an option for a DIY divorce - only really advisable for easy clean divorces where both parties agree and any issues with children/money are sorted or not applicable. Ask at you local court or go to www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk for details.

Find a family law solicitor who gives the first hour free.
Dependant on your income you can get legal aid. Depends what you class as a low income and what they class as a low income, but if you are receipt of certain benefits you can also get legal aid.

In GA I paid $499 for my non contestant divorce...though I hear that you fill out paper work and file yourself. I'd rather have a professional do it and just wash my hands of the whole thing. I never even had to go to court, only 1 of the 7 judges in the county makes the plaintiff come in. I was lucky my case got one of the other 6, they just sign and send the decree to your lawyer. Easy Peasy, well except for the worry that my X wasn't going to sign the papers, which he did, thankfully. I never knew what kind of mood he was going to be in or how difficult he'd decide to be about it from one day to the next. I caught him on a good day.

Should be able to if only to a certain amount, go for a free hour with a solicitor and take it from there, he will at least know if he'll be entitled to legal aid and how much of it.

Go for the DIY divorce, if both parties agree it cost around £150 and takes only a few months.

Yes you can. I got divorced around 4 years ago. I was earning £14,500 per annum and still got legal aid.
If there is no property and nothing invovled, they will def do it for you..

Has to be very low these days to qualify. Take a look at www.clsdirect.org.uk/legalhelp/calculator.jsp and you should get an idea.
