The doc has me feeding him every 2 hours 2-in half to 3 OZ. Which is going well. Now I burp him after every OZ and when I am doing this he is screaming at the top of his lungs. Is this normal or `could there be something wrong?

He probably does not like the interruption with his feedings. Just burp him after he is done with the bottle, that is what I had to do with my son (he hated the bottle being taken away also). There are no strict rules with this, each baby is different. And as far as that answer goes about breastfeeding....what does that have to do with the question being asked????? No one asked for your opinion on breastfeeding or bottle feeding!!!!!!!

I would not feed him every 2 hours, unless he really wants it. You can start waiting 3-4 hours at this age and let him take his fill. However, the screaming for the burps may just mean he is mad because he is getting burped, I usually put the pacifier in to let them suck on that while I burp, this way they stay calm and the burps come up easier. Also, because he is bottle fed, he may be ready to eat 2oz. before being burped. I would just try one of these things, if it continues talk to your Dr.

well to those jerks who keep giving you crap about you not breast feeding, screw them. I tried it with my second daughter and it hurt like hell and she couldnt latch on to save her life so , I switched to formula . Doc doesnt know your baby as well as you do so really you dont need to be feeding that often unless your son is hungry. He'll let you know when he wants a bottle. and burping, well your making him upset every time you stop to burp him after every ounce. I usually burped either after every 4 ounces, if she pulled away from the bottle or if she started to cry in the middle of her feeding. good luck hun. your doing great! ( but also if he keeps on being gassy, you can try mylicon drops, they worked for me, i still use em every now and then and today my daughter turns 1 yr old )

hehehe...1 month old isn't really a newborn is it.
but the 2 hours upto 3 ozs. sounds about average. And his screaming is from the pain from the gas...I use the set them up in sitting position holding them under the chin for suppot and pat, pat, rub on the back method for burping. Seems to work better for getting the gas up faster.

CF_ what exactly makes you think that you have the right to come out with a comment like that? So you're the breastfeeding police now? The doctor can't 'have' you do anything, it is a mothers choice.
It sounds a little like colic to me, try giving him a little drink of still warm but cooled boiled water about 20 minutes after each feed, it helps to settle the stomach,

i think he's screaming coz you took his food away from him! Burping after every oz is hardly necessary. All the while he's drinking peacefully, let him. I used to burp mid-bottle when my daughter was drinking about 9oz.

He is probably upset because he had to stop eating to burp. I would try a little more formula before burping and see if this works.

try feeding him 2-3 oz then burping him. he will let you know when it's time to burp.
let your baby guide you , not your doctor!

i bottle feed too..and my son does the same thing..and it is from stoping to burp him...so what i have noticed with my son is when he slows down eating..that is the best time to burp him b.c his tummy is getting full..once i try then i have no problems and he goes right back to feeding with a happy face..so i dont think anything is wrong..good luck and congrats..

He is probably mad that you took him away from feeding or he might have a bubble in his belly. My son does the same thing when I take him off one breast to burp him or switch sides.
