The person who said the cell phone was correct for this century, at least. The cell phone revolutionized the world, nation by nation. Connectivity as could never have been imagined before. People take it for granted but there was a time in history not too many decades ago when a person might have asked why he/she would even want a phone in his/her home, let alone a second one. Then people asked why they would want a phone in a car, and guess what? And then Motorola created the "brick," the DynaTAC. 1983. Now it's history. Motorola changed the world. Think about it.

The flush toilet.

Profound in that it revolutionized sanitation in a fundamental way, causing a drastic decrease in the spread of various diseases and extending lifespans throughout the western world.

Ingenious in its simplicity and ease of use. Seems perfectly rational now, but not then. It's simplicity lends to its durability and reliability.

Thank you Thomas Crapper (the supposed inventor (not really - but he can stand for all those who developed it :)

Peace

language. words. writing. speech. these things are the most incredible things ever created. they allow us to communicate with each other, to share our thoughts and feelings. without it we would be alone, left to ourselves to interpret the world around us. we would have only one perspective on life, our own. we would know only what we could figure out ourselves and experience only the events that we live. Through communication, others can teach us what they have learned, show us what they have seen, tell us what they have done. We can live vicariously through them, and experience things we would never experience ourselves. We can tell each other what we think life is all about, debate why we are here, ask what others feel about a certain issue. Speech, writing, communicating is what allows us to do what we are doing right now, interact.
