When your a parent and you go out drinking and leaving your babies at home to fend for themselves, you have only your self to blame when harm comes to them. A parent's job is to put their children first and themselves last. When a disaster happens and you do wrong, the least you can do is beg forgiveness and say sorry for messing up. Arming yourself with spin doctors and campaign managers whilst swanning all over the world in private jets laughing and joking when its only been 50 days at the expense of a fund set up by people who seem too care about your child more than you ever did puts the good people of the world's back up. The limited company may bite them on the bum in years to come. Every expenditure will have to be listed for tax reasons and I bet every safety pin and shoe lace for the McCann's and their entourage is paid out of the fund. These people are living a paid for lifestyle on money which should be going solely on finding Madelline. Thats my take on it.

My question is that so many people seem to be supporting The McCanns why not look at it from the eyes of the people who are asking questions wondering what a doctor with a missing little girl is doing writing blogs and out jogging. How many fathers who genuinely loved their children would carry on like this pair. I don't know any,

There are 2 objectives in action for the McCanns. Getting their daughter back part of the campaign and avoiding charges of negligence under the law of tort. It appears the campaign for Madeleines safety is greatly overshadowed by this avoidance of charges...hence the flying out of lawyers.
For a case under negligence there are certain elements that would need to be established in a court.
Has a tort of negligence been comitted? Leaving 3 children alone, is this negligence?
I think this "pretending that everyone does this in Britain" is a ploy to get around charges of negligence.
To establish negligence I believe the law asks....
Do parents owe a duty of care to their children? Yes.
What is the standard of care owed? That of a reasonable parent?
What is the standard of a reasonable parent <<<<<<
Did the parents breach that standard of care????? If yes, then negligent, if not then not negligent.
SO..... what both these McCanns are saying is...that the standard of care of parents in Britain is to leave them alone and therefore they have not been negligent....
So my theory is that this campaign to find Madeleine is tainted by the parents behaviour on many levels. It is serving to create a smoke screen to their actions and avoiding legal redress, whlst also seeking to find little Madeleine, Also explains the constant changes in circumstances put forward by the McCanns and lack of clarity as to what actually occured regarding the patio doors, forced windows, times of checking, who checked etc
So once again the parents put their childrens welfare second to their own welfare. Its not purely about finding their daughter.
If the McCanns admitted they were negligent and wrong, then public sympathy for them may be stronger, but doing so leaves them open to almost certain legal action. I suspect their legal advisers have told them not to admit any liability. But the public see the liability and fault and will not be silenced. hence the uproar and dislike of the McCanns

Well, we all have the right to our opinions of course... but I see what you mean. These parents made a bad decision and they are indeed paying the highest price for it. They did a stupid thing and are now suffering like hell. I can't begin to imagine how much the McCanns are beating themselves up over this. I also find the holier-than-thou heartlessness of SOME of the "serves 'em right" brigade pompous, judgmental beyond belief, and throughly distasteful. Oh, and before anyone else startes moaning at me: this is nothing to do with being a ''bleeding heart'', it's about being a human. I wouldn't wish this situation on my worst enemy. Ever. Naive as it may sound, I just hope that missing children - including little Madeleine, obviously - are found safe and well.

what i cant fathom is the mccanns have put so much effort into raising the awareness of this case that when there have been not 1 but 7 possible sightings of maddie in malta whats their response 'we give it no credence and will continue working to raise the awareness' and still no sign of them bringing in their own investigators using the fund, jesus just what will it take to get these two to actually search for their daughter

I agree with you Susie.
IMO if the McCanns had got any sense at all now....well him anyway, she's under his control, he would sense the growing disbelief and suspicion and come back to the UK to be interviewed by BRITISH POLICE.
These two are hiding something. Why he continues to blog I cannot understand. I've sent countless posts about the whole situation.
I wish also people would stop sending money.....if only so that the doctors don't have so much to repay when they are found to be involved in their daughter's disappearance. The charge of fraud would be less too.

Well stated but not a different perspective. You have summed up what an amazing number of people think. I wonder if it is the traditional English reserve which prevents more from voicing their disgust of the whole scenario. By the way Gerry her name is spelt MADELEINE!

While being watchful can help deny Pedophiles and child-stealers. They are resourceful and have been taking children for a long time. For example, 10 yr old Ben Ownby was kidnapped in broad day-light in public after exiting a school bus. Also during the night, a man entered the house of 14 yr old Elizabeth Smart and kidnapped her - her parents were there sleeping. Some women steal other women's babies by simply befriending the mother and saying something as simple as "she's so cute, lemme hold her for a minute,' and take off running with the child (some version of this is in the news every year). So watch your kids as much as possible, reasonably beware of strangers etc. But let's place the primary blame on the sick individuals who would take someone else's child. A decent moral law-abiding person wouldn't do it.

I agree that the McCanns were stupid to leave the children alone. However which parent has not left their children when really they should not have done?
To me the McCanns have to live every day with their mistake, that is their punishment.
