Michael Graydon Vandort (born January 19, 1980 in Colombo) is a Sri Lankan cricketer. He is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler. He stands at 6 feet 5 inches. (right now he's the tallest player in the team.)
He is a sri lankan burger....as i know.
Having emerged in 2001 after impressive club performances, he was picked against Bangladesh in September 2001 after an impressive century. He has a current Test average of 79. Having been out of action since July 2002, he has introduced himself to Twenty20 cricket, though given his debut against Australia in an January 2006 ODI, when he scored at the scintillating a rate of one an over, young Michael can't exactly be classified as a crowd-pleaser. He recently scored a century in Sri Lanka's defeat to England on 28 May 2006. He nearly became the first batsmen since Javed Omar in 2001 to carry the bat through the whole innings.

Michael Vandort, a tall left hander, emerged onto the national scene in 2001 after a string of impressive performances for Colombo Cricket Club and Sri Lanka A. A late developer, Vandort played only one first XI match for St Joseph's first XI, but he quickly made an impression in first-class cricket. He was then picked for a Board XI side against India in August 2001 and booked himself a berth in Sri Lanka's 16-man Test squad on the back of an impressive century. He sat on the sidelines throughout the series, but was finally given a chance against Bangladesh in 2001 when the selectors rested senior players. However, despite scoring a century in the second Test, he then waited three-and-half-years before reclaiming a place in the national squad. Opportunities were restricted due to the established Jayasuriya-Atapattu opening combination, but many argue he has nonetheless been unfairly ignored by the selectors. An injury to Sanath Jayasuriya paved the way for his ODI debut against Australia at Melbourne in February 2006. He top scored with a gritty but slow 48 but was then dropped for the rest of his series. He played two Tests in the Bangladesh series that followed, again showing an impressive adhesiveness and is particularly strong off the front foot, through the off-side and leg-side. Rated highly as a slip fieldsman but is slow in the field, a weakness that will restrict opportunities in the limited-overs game.

i dont think he is the tallest test cricketer playing ( but he may be, who knows ?), but he is not from australia. he is sri lankan by birth and comes from a family whose origin is the duetch(they ruled the coastal area of Sri lanka for some time).
He may be the only test player of duetch origin.
