Okay, so you hear these stories all the time 'I wasn't ready for this', 'I'm not married, still in school', 'my boyfriend doesn't want a baby and is leaving me', 'I can't afford a baby', etc. etc. My question is, if you KNOW you are not in a position to have a baby in your current situation, why don't you abstain from intercourse? Even using protection isn't going to 100% prevent pregnancy. My husband and I both waited until marriage before having sex, because we knew we didn't want to have children before marriage. I just don't understand how people can't think about consequences before they do things.

If your married and don't want children, that's different. My husband and I wanted to wait to have children for a while after getting married, but we KNEW the risk we were taking and that if we did get pregnant before we planned, we still were married, had enough money, had a home, and were responsible enough to raise a child.

I agree. Abstinence is the only sure fire way of not getting pregnant. But I at least settle for people using protection and lots of it!! I just don't like when someone says they don't want a baby or they weren't ready and they kept their legs spread open 24/7. It's bothersome how some people think the pulling out method or any of the other crazy things works.

That is good that you and your husband was able to wait like that. That is ideally what you are supposed to do. It is not your place or anyone else's place to judge what others do. Everyone will be judged but it will not be while they are on earth. You don't know their stories or why they did what they did and its none of your business. I had a baby when I was not quite ready for one, maturity wise & I wasn't married yet. I never had the chance to get married because my boyfriend died 6 weeks into pregnantcy. My son changed my life in a way that I never expected. God knew that my giving me a child I would become the person he wanted me to do and that is exactly what happened. I am very fortuante to have my son if I didn't there is no telling where I would be.

Because they want to have sex and so they fool themselves into believing that if they do this or that when having it, then they won't get pregnant. So they are going into it on the pretense of being ignorant, that way if pregnancy occurs then they can blame everyone and everything but themselves.
Additional: I constantly tell people when confronted with questions concerning getting pregnant that if you have sex (and the female is of menstruation age), then you can get pregnant. That certain methods might considerably reduce your chances of getting pregnant but that they don't eliminate them. So any chance no matter how small is still a chance, and that's all it takes.

The remedy you are suggesting is worst than the problem.Just think.Abstinence, protection and only marriage related Sex ,morality and such other aspects do not stand any reasonable chances of being effective in warding off unwanted pregnancies. We have to accept that such pregnancies are facts of modern life and work on the ways to minimize it's incidence through awareness and education and devise and put in place practical measures to help affected people to cope up with it.Well, as for Your personal example,I would call it as a rarest of the rare case and in this real time world and life, though can be cited as a role model but practically no takers. So ,we are, from where we started.

That's something very easy to say, but not an easy thing to do. I know people who are in their 40's who aren't ready for children, but should they be celibate?
You waited, good for you. Not everyone can. What bothers me are the ones who don't even TRY to prevent pregnancy and complain about it when they get knocked up.

they just think, thats not going to happen to me!. Sometimes the guy has alot to do with having sex too early though.. peer pressure, etc.. So sometimes the girl who got knocked up is the victim and now has to take care of herself and her child.. and she does. sometimes she's even a better mother than one with money, husband, house, etc... Even though she wasnt "ready" she changed.. Everything happens for a reason..................

ahhhh if only everyone can think like you :) I ask myself this same question. People just arent careful anymore and have that "it can never happen to me" attitude.

I am glad you were able to take care of yourself. That is what you should keep doing. Taking care of yourself and not judging others and worrying about what they do and don't do.
I am glad it all worked out for you. Abstaining is not for everyone and does not have to be done. You can steps to make sure you don't get pregnant, but sometimes things happen. Not everyone has to follow what you did. That worked for you and yours and I am happy for you. Thanks for sharing.
