Trent says no amount of phone calls against the Immigration Bill will change his mind. That means he does not want to hear the wishes of the people who elected him.

"I've had my phones jammed for three weeks. Yesterday I had three people answering them continuously all day," Lott said last week. "To think that you're going to intimidate a senator or any senator into voting one way or the other by gorging your phones with phone calls — most of whom don't even know where Gulfport, Mississippi, is — is not an effective tactic.

Has he turned to the Bush way of ruling? Do not listen to the people but do what you want anyway?

He has made up his mind after hearing the points of view on the issue. Does he have to wait until the vote and count the number of calls pro or con in regards to a bill?

We have representative government, which means we elect representatives and they vote how they see fit based on their campaigns. We do not have a direct democracy because it would be guided by the passions of people who are fueled by demagogues on the left and right.

This is a great example of what happens when you place yourself above the people that you supposedly represent. That old self-serving codger needs to be ousted, and the sooner the better, I include many others who are so deeply entrenched with power that they spite their own constituents.

It's time for America to wake up and make a move. Let's give power back to the people.

Trent Lott is the worst kind of whore. Remember when he
said a balanced budget is great but I have a election to
win. His lips are shaped like Bushes rear end.

No one in Washington cares about what the average American thinks. How can they. They are so out of touch
with reality its not funny. Especially Mr. Taterhead.

No. If they're really unhappy with his support of that bill, they should organize this year by picking a strong, anti-bill conservative to run against him next year in the Republican primary for his seat.

This is what Republican activists should be doing across the nation. If you're unhappy with a politician of your party, work against him or her in the primaries. That's why they're there.

Hell no.

I'd rather see him suffer the humiliation of being run off by the voters in the next election.

I think a better question would be "Why isn't he locked up along with the rest of the crimminals squatting in the whitehouse?"

Representative government was created PRECISELY because our founding fathers realized that demagogues could lead the public like a herd into an abyss. Thank goodness our elected officials do not cave to hate radio.

No, he's listened to his constituents and heard their arguments. There are a finite number of opinions, as you can tell from this politics board!
