it is just cloudy now. What causes it? Can it be fixed. I know I need to go to the pool professionals ,but they don't open for 3 more ours. So has this happened to anyone? New pool owners, as you can tell we are. I had not shocked for 9 days, then I shocked last night and you know, the water looks clean....just cloudy as all can get! Thanks for the answer.

It,s either a water balance problem( Alkalinity, pH or Hardness) or you need to run the filter and filter out what the chlorine killed.

Pools normally turn cloudy after a chlorine shock. They should remain cloudy for a day or so before the filter can circulate it out. Give it some time, it was in need of chlorine so just let the filter do its job.

I had a hot tub that would do the same thing from time to time. It should clear up on its own. If it doesn't, There is a chemical called Clear Blue. It a big bottle of blue gel that will clear up the water for you

If you just wait a while, it should clear back up again. If not you may want to bring a sample of your water to a place like Pinch-a-Penny so they can do a more thorough test.

Turn the pump off, let the algae settle to the bottom, then vacuum the bottom and mop the sides.
