It's a tie ball game, with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth. There is a runner on 2nd base, but he can't risk stealing 'cause the catcher has a gun! Vladimir Guerrero is up to bat, but you have David Ortiz available on the bench. Do you keep Guerrero up? Or do you go with Ortiz?

If the team in the field was smart they would intentionally walk the batter (man on 2nd base doesnt move and its tied anyway). So knowing that if I put Ortiz up that they could walk him, I would hold off and see what they do against Vlad. He is a very dangerous hitter and could get the job done. So keep him in there and then if they walk Vlad you put Ortiz in to pinch hit for the next guy. This is what I personally would do. Though itd be almost impossible for this to happen unless its the all-star game. Red Sox will never let Papi go and there's really no chance of signing that big of a guy in Vladdy with our current payroll in Boston.

Either player can win the game for you. You don't say who is pitching and that would make a world of difference. I would leave Guerrero in to bat against a left handed pitcher because he is a right handed hitter. I would put Ortiz in against a right handed pitcher because he is a left handed batter. Just playing the percentages here and I would venture to guess the manager would do the same thing.

Unless either Vlad has never hit the pitcher well, or Papi has outstanding past success against the pitcher, I'd just leave Vladi up. If he makes an out, we go to the tenth, and I'd still want him in the game for his D, and I'd still have Ortiz available later.

They're both proven hitters, so I wouldn't worry about the lefty/righty matchup with the pitcher (though, as noted, I would consider past results).

What the hell steal third with the right handed Guerrero up. Throwing a runner out at third means that the catcher has to throw around the right handed hitter .The worst that could happen is that the runner gets thrown out and Guerroro leads off the 10th innning.

I'd keep vlad up, unless Vlad had a horrible night at the plate Vlad has a good batting average and if hit a grounder he has a better chance of running out for a single than Ortiz.

if the manager had any brain left in his skull, then he would have put Ortiz in the STARTING LINEUP! This is more of a question of who would hit cleanup if these 2 guys were on the same team. But to answer your question, I would leave Guerrero in because he is perfectly capable of coming up with a clutch hit to drive in the guy at 2nd. If they walk Vlad, then I go with Poppy.

Vlad would most likely be intentionally walked, so I would get him on then put in Ortiz for the next batter,

you shoulda put A-rod in the bench too haven't you heard?A-rod has made i think 10 homeruns in the 9th in this season and a couple of them were walk offs.Like 2 days ago A-rod tie the game 5 to 5 with his long shot and they had to go extra innings until the 13th.
