(I'm hoping to discover the meaning of the word "tarnations" with this question)

I always thought it was a combination of : that there nation,
or that thar nation or slang for entire nation. It's a colonial slang word.

Slang for ,entire nation, makes the most sense.

I don't think tarnation has an actual meaning. I think it's just meant to punctuate a statement like the words darn or heck (and of course the cursing versions of those).

But I'm guessing there's nothing in tarnations going on with you right now, because you have time waist on line. Haha

Hmmm. To do this more creatively than just looking up the word, maybe I can answer you through a scenario.

You: What in "tarnation" is going on with you? What's all the ruckus here?

Me: Well, I'm sorry but I let all your horses out of their stables. I was just feeding them when all of a sudden, a villain ran through and let them all out! There was nothing I could do and they just stampeded all over and caused the ruckus.

You: Dagnabbit!
