How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone:

* # 0 6 #

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen.

This number is unique to your handset.

Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.

Should your phone get stolen,

you can phone your service provider and give them this code.

They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card,

your phone will be totally useless .

You probably won't get your phone back,

but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either.

If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

Yeup .....

Surely u can do that ....in case u were a Hutch or Airtel subscriber....and the person who got ur cell is still using it on the same network....

All u have to do is give a call at the care centre of the service provider and give them the cell info........

they may ask for a FIR, which in case u'll have to deposit at their nearest centre to get ur CEll phone blocked....

Nokia can't help with it....only the service provider would let u know.....

Hope u mark this one as the best answer........

First call your carrier and tell them to list it as lost and stolen. You will be liable for any calls and overage minutes ....
Then you get another phone and change out the Electronic Serial Number and the next phone will ring on your old number.

Be careful and report it stolen. Worked for Verizon and one person did not repor tthe phone lost and had to pay a $4000. bill for calls from Georgia to Europe.

only the police can help u. u may tell for ur service provider eg airtel, but they can also help u to block this phone on airltel only. someone who has stolen can take a simi card from any other service provider and use the mobile set. thats why your service provider cannot also help u. only police can help u. they have the authority and power to write to all service providers in your area
