It's an F 150. I want to paint it another color, and I know it needs a little bondo... Do I sand it down to the metal or just rough it?

Also, can I use rustolium spray paint?

Ok... so thats 2 questions... lol... I just saved me 5 points! :D. Just answer 'em both... okay? Thanks!

Metal prep hammering out the dents first grinding the repair areas to shiny steel to make bondo hold and it would take 60 or more rattle cans to cover the truck with rough looking over spray. Professional paint application is done in dust free or mostly dust free paint booths. Body work sanding plastic body filler is hazardous breathing dust into your lungs. Your results with home paint will be a disaster. Leave it to the pros.

sand until you get passed the clear coat and the bondo is Even with the rest of the veh, then primer it and then wet sand it then paint , and i would not suggest rustoliuom, paint it does not stand up in the long run

Take it to a local tech school or place where they teach body shop techs-- offer to pay for materials if they will do the work for free-- often they will, with better results than you could do yourself.
