Duct tape is great. Used it one time to make a collar for my goat till I could get one. Just another use for the wonder tape!

I think duct tape is OK in certain uses, but actually there is almost always a better solution. The main problem is that it leaves a terribly sticky residue. I find better alternatives for quick fixes are picture hanging or "bailing" wire, binder clips, zip-ties, and aluminum hog-rings.
Picture hanging wire made by OOK & available at Home Depot/Lowes is stainless steel & very strong. Avail in several diameters it is easy to work with and can be used to "stitch" things together by drilling holes & running it through them like sewing. Also can be used to tie things together. Binder clips from the office supply store have endless uses & can be used over & over. I have one on my checkbook right now! Thye make good money clips & business card holders as well, along with holding potato chip or coffee bags closed. Zip ties are great, especially the strong ones that have metal locking tabs in the "buckle". Lastly hog-rings (avail from a farm supply store) can be used to attach things to chain link fences, etc. For these you need a special pair of pliers.

My son uses it all the time just like The Red Green Show. I see LL Bean is now offering red plaid duct tape. Imagine what you could do with that if you live in the country!
