Something great needs to happen to counter it. Something amazing that leaves you breathless and restores your belief in the world- what that something could be, I wish I knew. I am pretty disillusioned myself.

Agreed. Beliefs equate with deception. If one accepts that everything including self is made of value then one recognizes disillusionment for what it is, that is, recognizing you have been accepting deceptions as truth. This perspective makes self-understanding evolve naturally. Perceiving reality as it is is a very dynamic experience.

Only if you continue with the same perspectives that have been deceiving man since he began exercising his intellect is disillusionment terminal. They are: The belief we are material (What we measure as being material is how value expresses itself.) and the belief in the spiritual. (A vision we supply to explain the actions of value.)

The question "What is important?" makes us realize the material we think respond to is not what is important. It is value which determines everything. Inside every material thing are the dynamics of value that make it what it is!

No. I don't believe that disillusionment is terminal. It is a temporary condition needed by your psyche to challenge beliefs and define yourself against those beliefs.

Dis illusion ment is to lose your illusions about something.
It's a hard thing to go through. But it is not necessarily terminal.

When I became disillusioned I began to ask myself if there anything in the world that was objectively and completely RIGHT, TRUE, REAL.

Through that search I found that I was mainly disillusioned with myself--I couldn't even live up to my own ideals.

And through that I came to Christ. Lord, be merciful to me, a sinner.

If I didn't believe in the God of the Bible, the Creator, the Redeemer, and the Restorer of all that is right and good and true, I don't think I would have recovered. But I found that seeking God, he was seeking me.

And he says that whoever comes to him he will not cast away from him, nor ever leave him nor forsake him.

So the way out of dis illusionment is, to me, a saving relationship with Jesus Christ--with the God who made us, and knows us better than ourselves.

Of course it's not! Your problem starts with your self! It's always your thoughts that determine how your life, the world and how other people behave towards you. Many books have been written but it's nothing like personal experience when you look inwards. Learn how to meditate...not only will you fill the pressures of life or stress lifted but you will be energised and face life differently. It's not an overnight solution but you will find that in time you are in tune with nature because you are connecting with your divine source and you will be happy.

If you define disillusionment as the movement of one's expectations toward reality then, yes, it's terminal.

The more "advanced" cultures inculcate loftier expectations on their members. The greater those expectations, the longer it takes for disillusionment to reach reality.

How about yourself? Instead of looking outward for a source of encouragement, look deep within. Once you become empowered by a belief in yourself, you see disillusionment for what it really is, reality.

I think disillusionment is also as transient as everything else...... the uncertainty and inconsistency of the future makes sure of that....... even a minor turn of events carries the capability to rekindle hope and faith.

Yes...

Especially at airport terminals...

But, seriously...

Jesus once said..."I can do all things through righteous Rock 'n' Roll, which strengthen me..."

...or something like that...(pretty clever of me to slip in a Bible quote, there, don't ya' think?)

But I think the jist of his message was...

"ROCK 'N' ROLL, BAY-BEY!!!

"Rock 'n' Rooooolllllllll !!!" (fist in the air in the land of hypocrisy)

You are officially on your way to recovery...

Hope this helped...(hugs)

I believe in nothing. Each set of beliefs have problems -- unless you're willing to ignore evidence.

Disillusionment comes from our expectations. Change your expectations and there is recovery.

Perhaps your expectations were not possible or realistic to begin with.
