Well i think its not true now a days, it was true before 40 or 50 years back, now money is the mightiest thing in this world and we have to accept it although its hard to accept.

Yes the pen is mightier because the sword only destroys the body but the pen has the ability to make or break the mind which is eternal.

It isn't in Iraq.
However, in most civilized countries, the pen is mightier than the sword. Look at our judicial system and all the laws on the books.
I've seen many of my favorite movies go by the wayside because some movie critic panned the plot in a local newspaper.
Check out your job reviews when you don't get that raise.
Look at how much of your bank account you signed away with your cellphone contract.
The list goes on and on.

It can be, because its power lasts for many years long.
The "pen" can write something that might be read and approved even 10 centuries after, it might sustain ideologies forever, it might change everyone's mind, it might carve the stone. Many souls are following what was written 2 thousand years ago. The pen has the power that makes readers think...
All of this cannot be obtained using a "sword". A sword can kill and give the power of one moment, with all consequences. An army may want to follow that heroe, just because they are weak, they seek the master to follow, like dogs, they don't want to decide for themselves. A sword against the stone cannot nothing: it losts the shear.
That's the difference for me: life vs. death, intelligence vs. violence.

I hope so, but I wonder. Listen to all the fanatical rhetoric leading to current violence in the world and it seems the pen and the sword are themselves at war and about equal in strength at this point. The Western world doesn't seem to have any charismatic writers to counteract those who are causing the growing chaos. Maybe the generation just entering adulthood can form a barrier against hatred and war through their writings so that the "pen" will regain its power.

Guess not. You'd have to count word processors, internet and cell phone texting but it's still word of mouth that is mightier than the sword.

Well personally I would rather be the one with the sword, anyone who brings a pen to the fight probably isn't going to last very long.

When the sword slices you in half, you won't be able to use the pen anymore.
