My Panasonic clock radio has a cassette deck, and the cassette deck hasn't worked for a while. When you push "play," "rewind," etc, nothing happens. Is there something I can do to fix the problem? I know someone will tell me to throw the radio away, but everything works great except for the cassette deck.

Yeah, I'm not stuck in the dark ages, but I just want to fix the cassette deck.

When I press "play," the cassette deck makes a humming sound, but it will not play a tape. There are so many small parts in the deck, I have no clue what to look for.

I believe the cassette deck motor rubber belt had failed due to wear and tear because these rubber belt are like rubber band which melt over time goes by. Get it replaced by a new rubber belt but be prepared for out of stock. Well, u know cassette deck is no longer popular and in production for present days.

Or the grease has run dry for the smoothing of motor gear or deck gear part. Cassette deck motor hardly broke down.

Or dust.
