With the exception to cost, what are the problems or limitations with electro-magnetic trains?

All operational implementations of maglev technology have had minimal overlap with wheeled train technology and have not been compatible with conventional railroad tracks. Because they cannot share existing infrastructure, maglevs must be designed as complete transportation systems. The term "maglev" refers not only to the vehicles, but to the railway system as well, specifically designed for magnetic levitation and propulsion.

the magnetism created could be dangerous to people with pacemakers. It might affect bankcards. Plus i beleive that some electrical appliences would be off limits on the train.

Also i think you can only have one train active on one track at a time.

The power consumption is also quite high. (but this would factor into cost.)

They need a guide rail (over which they float) that needs to be straight considering the speed of the train. The quality requirements with respect to the track alignment, quality of electrical power etc. are of much higher order.

The whole track needs to be protected with closeknit fence to protect the train from being hit by any other object from the side.

You can't use mobile phones or electrical appliances on some of them. And I think....that's it.

But actually building a fleet of these would still be cheaper than buying 1 747. Just infrastructure. Eventually, though, they will turn out to be cheaper in the long run.

They can go berzerk in an electromagnetic storm. Moreover they have a lot of charisma, er....... magnetism about them.
