what would happen if everyone on the earth were to jump at the same time.

Nothing will hapen ,this force is not enough for doing anything.
And when you jump, you push the earth and then attract it towards you with the same force,so even if they were all on one side , nothing will happen.

i remember doing a thing in school a few years ago (year 9 i think) where the whole school went on the playground and jumped up and down for 2 minutes.

all other schools in the SW of England did the same and we actually caused small seismic tremors!!! it was on Newsround :D

probably one side would cancel out the other.

but if all the chinese only jumped, would the earth be jolted out of orbit?

Or if all of them sneezed at the same time towards the US will the ensuing tsunami wipe out the US?

If they all were to position their cars, trucks, bikes, scooters, airplanes all facing east and if they were to all accelerate together, then maybe they would slow down earth and we would have longer days.
