I have been asking myself that question since
they made the announcement. Whoever suggested the knighthood must have known
it would open up old wounds again. I can
think of a few people who would have been
best rewarded with such a title than Salman
Rushdie.

His work is pretty crap. But, then so is knighthood. It's become a bit of a joke really. He probably knows some people higher up that talk to the queen alot. Probably, gave the queen some in the *** cause her man is pretty old and unequipped to handle the task anymore. Have you noticed how the princes always seem to choose the ugliest of women to be their brides lol.....Going from diana to camella....wow such sheer amazement of looks that camella has...makes my neighbors poodle look more gorgeous. Better yet she probably has bowel syndrome her last name indicates that much. I heard Mr Rushdie has a small pecker the size of a pea though. Maybe, that's how the royals like their men stiff on the mouth...less between the legs.

I can't answer you any better than "eriverpipe" above, he has it in a nut shell. one thing that Rushdie most certainly did do, was bring to the worlds attention just how hypocritical some of the Muslims are, Well deserved in my opinion.

Because he belongs to a coterie of writers whose work is fashionable - left-wing, subversive, mocking of things that lots of people revere, vaguely interested in the obscene. We shan't really find out for a few centuries whether he is worth a place in the canon of Eng. Lit., but now he is regarded, in influential circles, as a Great Writer.
We shouldn't mock, really, but the silly b***** should have known than sooner or later he would be in danger of death for mocking the Prophet of Islam, and his admirers should have known that for awarding him a knighthood, the government, and our Sovereign herself, would find themselves publicly abused and even in real danger,

Because someone thought he was an author of merit. I have heard that many people who know what they are talking about, think he is an excellent writer.
I did try to read the Satanic verses, but it was too boring. But then, I'm not an intellectual.

Our creators have decided that the next major global conflict will be between the different faiths. This is just one more stone of antagonism, in the wall of reasons, that is being slowly constructed by our 'unelected leaders' in preparation for that war.

They know that it would only enrage muslims, and what better way to carry on their so called war on terror....these pricks are so predictable Ill even go so far as to predict the UK or US will now blow up some mosques or maybe even blow up some more buses to ramp up the terror alerts (just like they did last time).
