Your friends don't just like you because you help them with their homework. They see the caring, smart, nice person that you are! There's nothing wrong with not talking alot and that doesn't mean that people are going to get bored with you. You sound like a very sweet person who's just going through a rough time! Keep your head up and be yourself!

Maybe you could try asking people about their lives. Ask questions. Don't be a stranger. It sounds like people have been using you for help with their homework, and you don't want or need friends like that who may end up hurting you in a bigger way later on. Maybe go to college or university and make new friends there, have a new start. Bottom line though, don't give up on people, try to speak up and ask questions. Ask open questions instead of closed ones so that people will respond better. For example, say 'how was your weekend? What did you get up to?' instead of 'did you have a good weekend?' that way they can't simply answer 'yes' or 'no', but will have to elaborate. I really do wish you the best of luck, it can be hard, but find strength in yourself and you'll do fine.

Best friends usually do not just happen. They are found. and the best way to find someone is through shared interests.

So, what are your interests? Get involved with group activities and you will make friends. In HS I was the heavy weight wrestler and tackle on the football team.

I did three shockers. I spent a summer in dance lessons. I took voice lessons. I then tried out and got a lead in a school musical. Suddenly dozens of girls and guys who never talked to me became my friends.

It became my lifes method. Go do exciting things where there are lots of people involved.

why not organize a get together at a pool, lake, or a beach. have a BBQ, rent a bunch of DVDs and make popcorn and invite all the ones you want to be friends with, sometimes all it takes is a little reaching out

Listen to their conversations...maybe you have similar interests and then chat to them about that - like music. Just try find common interests and you'll have a good time talking with them.

maybe you're just thinking that they want they get along with you just because you could help them with their homeworks.
i think you're just being paranoid.

what you should do is,
you should stop thinking that they're your friends just because you're intelligent, maybe it's not they're intention.and you i think you should talk more, just like when you're reciting in class.and since you're pretty nice and smart, you should think of a nice topic to talk with friends, wherein you can say/share a lot of things with them.

Don't you have any interest to other things than homeworks? It's the key... Having shared interests.
