i am a simple student and i want to build my first ever pc system for personal use like video editing (HEAVY) word typing, internet, email, uploads digital cam videos, store loads and loads of pictures from photo album (really HUGE).

i have come up with the following spec:

Asus P5B DELUXE motherbaord
INTEL CORE 2 DUO E6600 2.4GHz
2GB DDR400 RAM
SAPHIRE 11090-03-20R X1650 PRO Graphics Card
SAMSUNG HD SERIAL 500GB
LITEON DVD±RW
Windows XP Home Service Pack 2
RaidMax Sagitta case
Thermaltake 500Watt Power Supply Unit
Coolermaster liquid CPU cooling with 2 extra case fans
19" TFT LCD monitor
Logitech Keyboard and mouse
Internal 12 in 1 Flashmedia reader/writer

what are your views on this spec?

will the motherboard, processor, RAM and graphics card work well together?

shall i use win xp home or win xp pro? why?

i will be using Arctic Cooling Frezer 64 Pro?

The specs sound fine, but I might go with 4 GB of RAM and Windows Vista instead of XP... The graphics handling on Vista is much more appropriate for what you want to do.

The motherboard you picked requires DDR2 RAM and doesn't go with the DDR RAM you picked.

I'd advise you to pick Windows XP Pro
Microsoft won't like this but, don't use Windows Vista, it will suck up the resources which you need for your video editing.

Use Win XP Pro, it's much better, than Vista. Vista is a bunch of bugs with a lot of system requirements.

Very good piece of videoediting software - Vegas Pro.

Perhaps, you should put more RAM. Like 4 Gb. Video needs a lot of memory!

How about using Vista. if you hate the OS, use XP MCE. That was a good spec. They will work. But, you should consider a video editor such as Ulead VideoStudio.
