I know a lot of the people using this site do not have English as a first language, so discount them for the time being. Of those who do, how many of you are unbelievably fed up of some of these people being unable to spell basic words, or using poor grammar or worse, txtspk? Txtspk, in my opinion, should have been taken out and shot at birth.

I know it's sour, but I totally agree with you. I don't understand why people who have a command of the English language can't just take 2 minutes out of their life to write a full word. They're not typing on fiddly mobiles - there's a whole keyboard here!
My biggest grammatical bug bear is "should OF" (instead of the abbreviation should've) - say that in a sentence, people, and tell me what it actually means! Nobody thinks about what they are saying any more...

I dont agree with your opinion on other people's grammar and spelling. At the end of the day, many people are not able to use correct grammar, there are all kinds of people out there that may be not quite as bright as yourself. I think that there are many people of all abilities, so dont put others down for that!. As for txtspk I totally agree with you. I have never used it, even when texting!, and like you it drives me insane!

I have no problem with illiterate people, nor do I have all that much of a problem with literate people whose grammar, spelling, typing, or whatever else is imperfect. The people who are a tremendous annoyance to me are the ones who go off on others just for making a few mistakes (especially grammatical ones, since spell check won't do a bit of good in trying to correct them.)

Oh How I agree with you. The standard of grammar and spelling on this site is so appalling. Is it because people are in such a hurry that they can't be bothered to put a paragraph together properly or is it that the standard of English in this country is on a downward spiral.

I Hate Txt spk makes it so much harder from me to understand what others ae trying to say, its getting to the stage where everyday email and even conversation are getting cut short god forbid, we should have a normal ful lenght conversation.
And come on whats with the whole IMNO, BRB, WB, Ect, just say the words what going to happen apart from leaving people confused

I am one of them whose English is not a first language. My spelling and grammar are still in progress:) However, it is rather amusing for me to see some self-claimed "true Brits", "pure white English, born and breed here and proud of it" etc., who cannot even match my poor quality of written English standards.

I don't want to be rude but honestly this is a fun site, its not an English lesson or grammar test, so lighten up a bit and go with the flow, you'll be surprised how much fun you can have too.

We are not all university educated you know.Not everybody has a first in English.As long as you can get your point across and people can understand you does it have to be word perfect?You should be able to make allowances for those of us lesser educated.

I'm not native english speaker but i hate people who can not spell or use proper grammar.It is for every language though.
