Norman Rockwell was a good "painter" but it ends there. "Pretty Woman" was "well-made", but it ends there. We tell our children cute little stories and read them fairy tales and tell them there is a Santa Claus, and why? So they can someday find out its all BS? What good does it do them to live in a dream world? Why not give them love and be honest? Norman Rockwell had this vision of a goody-good world that NEVER existed. Sure, we all want a good world to live in, a peaceful and tolerant and loving world, but you have to come at it from a realistic place. Our whole existence in America seems to thrive on excess, on "feel-good", on fantasy and diversion. I am not saying we need to be cruel or cold. Can't we see things for what they are and still feel good, enjoy ourselves and one another?

it's like a dream to expect, An escape from reality,

Sympathy for the oppressed and encouragement to yourself when they finally triumphed over the wicked,

Motivate yourself to live a better life like the movie,

Although a lot (or most of time) that these dreams does not come true in reality. It's a nice stimulus, and very happy scenario if they does come true:P

its the escape to a beautiful wonderful world without any worries yet everyday not even the person on the highest anxiety anti depression medicine worrys about something, so the beautiful stories that are created a just a fake so we could "wish" about them knowing they will never happen. Even if people say i'm living a fairy tale, its still BS. Instead of those lil stories.

I just say;

were born
live the life that we have to worry about
plan a "future" for
go to school to have a job to survive
learn that someday we will die
go thru heartbreaks
politics
an everything in between
give kids to the world which is going to do the same to them as it did to us.
watch our kids go thru everything we did
watch them have kids
than die.

plain an simple........

Originally, fairy tales were dark and scary. Cinderella's father didn't die and ignored her to please the new wife, her stepsisters weren't ugly but cold and cruel and one cut off her own heel and the other her big toe to deceive the prince and in the end, had their eyes pecked out by birds.

Hans Christen Andersen's stories were mistranslated from Dutch to German to English and have only recently been properly translated from Dutch to English. That is why his work seemed simple. Plus, the original Little Mermaid died because she couldn't kill her prince charming. How's that for a happy ending?

You need the illousion to exist. Sure the image seems insulting, but the fact of the matter is that without happy thoughts you curl up and die. There is no logical reason to exist, and good and bad balance out, but the story is what makes it all worth while.

human beings cannot bear very much reality,we all have a deep need within us for imagination, myth, story , fiction , illusion, dreams, art ,spiritual beliefs etc ,its the creative right hemisphere of our brain. We probably need a better balance of fiction and reality.

But fairy tales have strong myths, symbols and metaphors in them that work on a deep/subconcious level which do have human truths in them. They come from older more ancient mythologies that human beings have always relyed on and valued.
