It is not possible for most macroscopic organisms to live without water. We'll surely come up with alternatives to ground water. Research is already being carried on converting atmospheric vapor to water and sea water to fresh water through reverse osmosis. But all classes of society may not be able to afford all this. So its high time we save our fresh water resources by avoiding wastage.

Sucking water out of the ground by digging borewell is also pressuring the sea water to flow in. The day's not long when we'll leave the earth dry. We should find means to recycle and reuse water.

Another case of people looking at short term results and thinking they are long term truths. Same as global warming myth. Don't worry, the next ice age will replenish the groundwater, Just as it will refrigerate Al Gore and the fools who believe him. Guess what? it will also rid the world of folks who think man has any control over the weather or environment. Be of good cheer! the next millenium's oil will be made of your body residue. The only constant thing in this planet is change............So has it been............so it will continue to be. Your science or your religeon cannot alter that one decimal. Man is NOT in control here and the several Gods he invented have even less control. Your cries of disaster fall on deaf ears of those who really comprehend.

Well, I have not been digging for a well. But last week I was in the forest and I did noticed the ground was dry down to three feet. Which is very unusual for temperate forest. Ground was so dry that it was like sand. It did not take much effort to move the dirt.

actually we should not think of ourselves;rather we need to think about future progeny either ours or others( here i mean other creatures plants & animals.if we think in that direction we will not dig bores so deep to meet our todays requirment i.e. present . we cannot thrive because our pure water requirement is more than others (exceptionally asse) if we deplete all surface water & consume only ground water we wont get food to eat because we cant sow grains and so devoid of food we will die.

It is better to think before it happens, if we think we can do it --- 1st dont destroy trees, grow more trees at least plants. if you are going to do this, then there wont be water scarcity because it is the method to bring rain. so we dont want to worry about decreasing water levels. surely it will increase.
