I am an American who is seeking opinions from citizens of other countries of the world about the United States, negative or positive. I truly appreciate this country, and even though I believe it's a wonderful place to live, I understand it is not perfect.

The vast majority of people have strong opinions regarding the Iraq War and George Bush, usually negative, but fail to research any deeper than what is being published by major news media. In fact, the average USA citizen, in my opinion, takes their rights for granted and lacks the initiative to understand truth.

That is why I chose to ask this question, to inspire opinions from others who have not been influenced by USA media.

P.S. - to anyone who may hate america: on average our citizens are peaceful and comply with a high level of tolerence for one another, however, modernization is creating distractions, weakening our true nationalism and self-motivation.

Well. I am a non American.
1. I respect the American people. They are peace loving people.

2. But I strongly dislike the way the American Govt. handles the world issues. It is barbaric and totally unjust, to say the least. With the bloodshed around the world, it is earning a lot of hatred.

3. They hatred in the minds and hearts of victimized nations will also turn towards common US citizen.

4. So no wonder that we have more and more terrorists, who target common people as well.

5. The US Govt is capable of making the world a worth living place, but is bent on making the things worst, heading towards, rather working very hard to bring about, the clash of civilizations.

* You are very right. Average US citizen, bombarded by govt. controlled media, sees only one side of the picture. He is kept engaged in JOYS and WORRIES of American Society and never bothers, nor is interested, to reach out to truth. I wonder, as well as appreciate, you and small percentage of other American, who find some time to THINK and AN ALYSE.

First of all: USA is not America..not only!..and don't confuse the sin and the sinner, to say so!
What I don't like from the USA is that the believe their values are universal and applicable to everybody everywhere!
I prefer the humanistic and social approach of Europe over the materialistic and -for me- inhuman approach of the States, even if Europe is not perfect. Nobody is perfect!!! We are not equal as human beings in respect of age, health, abstract intelligence etc..So the so called BEST should not be unequally rewarded on the expense of the not so proficient in the system. USA creates looser, even in school,..but no one is a looser. All constituents have to be considered as an asset, not only the strongest! The results of this system of values can be seen in Countries which adopted the US way of life. A few are rich, the majority remains poor and become poorer.

American people most of them are good and full tolerance and respect other nations. But they are stiil many of them who are racialists.G.W..Bush administration are selfish ,cruel and they overide the human rights. They have no good standard or maybe many of us called them double standards. They let South Korea,Israel,Pakistan and other America's friend countries for having nuclear plant and weaponry but they do not let Iran to have it for peaceful intention..American's soldiers invaded Iraq with no true basis because its reason was false. But USA as a world police keeps on invading Iraq for many years which makes a misery to its people..
