No they should not. If that was the case, then Ty Cobb (blatant racism), Pete Rose/"Shoeless" Joe Jackson (gambling), Mark McGwire/Sammy Sosa/Rafael Palmiero/Jason Giambi (drug related), Orlando Cepeda (drug smuggling), and others that fans claim to "love" in the sport, will be totally eliminated from the record books and their achievements will be as if they never played the game.

How do you erase someone from history?

Statistics, and records of games exist to tell us what happened, not what we wish did or didn't happen. It's a matter of integrity. Also, to make the totals balance people would have to tamper with the statistics of all the teams, and a *lot* of other players. Photographs, books, box scores, writings, pictures, movies, etc. would need to be doctored or destroyed. We'd have to change the names of a lot of award winners. And so on. It would be a truly mind-boggling task, and incredibly dishonest. Truth matters.

What about those of us who *want* to be able to find out what happened in baseball?

Also, there is no group that controls what information exists. Just who do you propose should destroy history?

Even trying to to this would be a much bigger travesty than anything Bonds did.

I have to admit, if he's guilty, which seems like a heavy yes, then it's certainly a disgrace to the pride and integrity of baseball. But it's also known that he didn't take steroids, if he did, his whole career, so no, I don't think his whole career should be wiped out of existence, IF he did steroids. ok, kinda confusing the way i said it, but anyway, even if he deserves it, everyone knows that they won't wipe out his career because, even if you take away his records, he will still be in the memories of generations to come, them being good or bad.

Not until you can prove he was using. Find a failed drug test and we'll talk again. And no, bonds isn't the biggest jerk out there, that honer goes to Ty Cobb.

Which part of "innocent until proven guilty" don't you understand? I suspect you listen to a lot of sports talk radio.
Somebody in authority has to catch him doing something wrong and then he gets a fair trial or hearing.
Then we can talk about changing the record book.

Yes. And it is not just the steroids. Barry may just be the biggest jerk in the history of professional sports.
