What would you suggest a teen do with themselves as a 'cool' alternative to drugs and alcohol?

Im seeking content for my web site and you guys are great...

This time Im looking for ideas that you think are cool, which would not involve taking drugs or alcohol.

Kind of like an alternative high they could get from life or doing certain things...

First off, not all kids do drugs!!!! The ones that do, no matgter how 'cool' they may appear on the surface, they quickly become losers!!! Stick with ur less cool kids who do not use drugs, whose lives r filled with doing things other than dope. Even something as simple as weed usage will stop your life dead in its tracks. Ur grades will go down, your short terms memory will fade away, ur ability to care about what is occurring to u will disappear, ul lose any self esteem that u may hv ever had about ur self, ul find ur self looking 4 places 2 hide 2 do ur thing; its a lose lose situation no matter how much fun u may b deceivedinto thinking that ur having at the time. It a world filled ony with illusion. Until the reality of what uv given up comes crashing n on your mind becomes real 2 u!!!

Getting them involved in sports . Get them involved with the community by volunteering to clean up the area, paint over unwanted graffiti, pick up trash or litter, Volunteer for the Food banks, old folks homes, hospitals, non profit organizations like the salvation army etc. Form a teenagers club and have them paint, maybe help plan fundraisers like a car wash, community yard sales , hot dog sale and let them help to decide how to use the money raised.

There are a lot to do than drugs and alcohol like being involved in fund raising events organized by religious groups or organizations. Or getting into hobbies like scrapbooking,cooking and others which you can turn to lil businesses in the future.

Things that would help them meet new friends like join an activity at school (team sports, a society like the Debaters, choir, nature society etc).

learn a new language, or pick up a new skill like playing a musical instrument, taking dance classes, cooking classes, handicraft (pottery) classes or any form of art.

Or tell them to try going on a student exchange during their long holidays, you meet new friends and see a new country.

Personally, for me there's no greater natural high than having the music cranked up and dancing with friends - no drugs or alcohol needed, and it's loads of fun!

Geocaching is a good suggestion. www.geocaching.com you can get an immense high when you find a cache. It's a good hobby too and can be done in groups or solo.
