Sure, we all think that sex with children is disgusting and horrible right NOW at this point in history, but social evolution is unavoidable. Is it possible that there will one day come a point when society decides that adults being attracted to children is a perfectly natural and acceptable frame of mind? Will future children be taught about the "wonderful" things that a relationship with an adult might bring?

I'm NOT asking for understanding on your part because I think sex with children is as vile as YOU do. I'm just asking if it's possible it will happen, given our current social trend of understanding and acceptance. Don't you dare accuse me of anything so disgusting.

As revolting as this question may be, I see your point. In today's society, there seems to be no limit to what we can do to "shock" the public and the media feeds on it. For instance, I took my 13 year old step daughter to a store for some clothes today. This store is driven towards young teen aged women. There was a shirt on the rack with the words "Tap this" written on it. It made me sick. Another with the words "Sexy Girl".... My point is that our society has become obsessed with sex and shock value. Our children see this every day through television, magazines, and unfortunately, the schools. So, my answer is yes, it is possible. Unless we wake up and start to teach our kids about human decency and morals.

Never. I am not a close-minded person. But that will never be tolerated. If anything, rules will get stiffer. There is in no way to rationalize that behavior as not being negative.. In order for bill like that to be passed, someone has to propose. And no one would ever propose such a thing. At least in America and many other countries. If it did happen, it would only happen in very isolated small third world countries. I am not talking about questionable things that happened 200 years ago in Europe. We have done a lot of growing since 200 years ago. We are no longer burned at the cross for voicing an opinion that opposes Religion. So don't listen to some of these people that say, that we are already getting there. From here and on then. nothing like that will happen at least to where it is accepted. I mean in GA, there is a 17 kid being sent to jail for having sex, not rape, but sex with a 15 year old girl .. There is only a two year difference in age! NOw I think that is a little different then pedophila. They are both pretty much on the same mental wave length. Anyway, my point is rules are getting stiffer not more lax on that particular subject.

Pedophilia exists in any human society, ancient Greek, ancient China and Japan, even in muslim society, and according to a stats, 9%~54% American women were molested when they were young, contray to people's prejudice, they mostly molested by their close relatives, so legalize or unlegalize it, I don't see it'll make any difference, the only difference is do it publicly or secretly, if a person wanna do it, if there's a law won't make any difference...it'll never stop them.

Pedophilia were stigmized by most monothestic religions, before that, I didn't see any child was recorded as "psychologically traumatized" in history, it is because people demonized this behavior, everyone started specifically "caring" about these poor children, it gave the children a hint "Sex with children is kinky, I'm a victim", then they became real victims......If everyone thinks sex with children is normal, they'll think it'sno big deal too, it's all depends on social concept.

So yes, it's dangerous, unless the society change their thoughts about pedophilia.

In Classical Greece it was considered normal for adult men to want to be with young men, and the relationship was encouraged because it was beneficial to the younger man's career prospects. Both the younger and older man might be married to a woman at some point. The ancient Greeks believed that the love of a man for a man was superior because women were inferior creatures.
I don't think pedophilia will become legal, because minor children are by definition considered unable to give consent. To lower the age of consent would affect other age-related laws, like driving or buying alcohol. Also, there are few things that outrage so many people so deeply as an adult molesting a child.
Whether pedophilia becomes more widespread in actual practice, as opposed to whether it becomes legal? Well, your guess is as good as mine, but the Internet seems to be helping this "group" feel socially supported, at least by each other, and it certainly makes it easier for them to meet kids.

Actually, it's already happened. Only a few hundred years ago, a girl of 12 or 13 was of marriage age and expected by society to begin a family with a man - often ten or more years older than her.

Especially among the monarchies of medieval Europe, where marriages were arranged for political reasons. It wasn't unknown for a 25+ year old king (and newly single from the death of his wife) or a prince to marry the 12 or 13 year old daughter of the king of a neighboring kingdom and begin having children again.

Unfortunately it already is legal in some cultures!! Indian Muslim and Hindi Girls as young as 4 are being 'married of' to wealthy men in Saudi Arabia and in India proper all the time. In Thailand the cops look the other way. Only few peds are arrested. Too much money invloved.

Yes, even in Western cultures and others it will most likely be considered normal in 50 years. People forget that in England gays could be put in prison for acting on their urges as late as the 1960s. The same in the USA. Now it doesn't raise any concern hardly at all. If people react negatively to gays, they are called the freaks not the gays.

No way!, children and family (family means women who are mother of those children) are very protected by international law forever!

And yes indeed in some countries (cultures) is quite normal to marry a teen but a 'teenager' (12-18 yrs) not a child (Under 11 yrs old).

First off the word "Pedophile" is inappropriately used as a buzzword in our culture to conveniently apply to anyone who (a man) doesn't fit our cultural standards of sexual moral conduct. In reality, a Pedophiliac diagnosis must meet very specific behavioral criteria according to the DSM 4 and it involves basically Pre pubescent children only and individuals of both genders, something our culture refuses to acknowledge. The conduct of individuals making choices of individual sexual "Somatic Sovereignty" are universal Human Rights issues when dealing with individuals physically mature and emotionally able and willing to consent to such activities. These are cultural and not legal issues.

Yes; probably not in our life time but it is on the far left wing agenda. I mean 20 years ago who thought gay marriage would be acceptable. Give the far left time to get to it and you 11 year olds will be fair game.
