I don't think you can make it lighter any safe way. Hot water bottles on your tummy and fresh fruit and vegs, sleep, and healthy diet may help. AT the most, maybe you coul;d go to your doc and ask if there maybe something causing the heavy periods, beyond you being young.

Take a deep breathe. Your period maybe getting heavier because you are getting older... my periods seemed lighter when I was younger to I believe... they also were more painful. Because this is only your second day in it may lighten up on it's own... I get a heavy flow the first and second day and the last three days are a breeze, yes I said it a breeze =)! I wish I could offer more advice, take care... and be grateful... having a period means some day you may be able to bare children.

The question isn't "is it heavy" but "does it hurt"? If it hurts, then there are things you can do to reduce PMS, like cutting back on salt and exercising regularly. If it's heavy, you just change the tampons as often as you need to. But maybe you should talk to a doctor, anyway, in case s/he can suggest something else. I don't know that you should be on birth control at 14.

yeah periods suck in general, and it is heavy for everyone on the first 2 or 3 days. the birth control pills do tend to lighten your periods and the low-dose ones decrease it even more. but the downside of birth control pills is they often cause weight gain and mood imbalance. i would recommend that you buy some heavy pads and just get used to changing them very often.

I had that problem so bad that I became anemic. I went on the pill, and that did help, but they're still so bad that I have to take iron pills the week before, during, and after. It's a true joy. But as I said, the pill did help. I'm 16, so we're not that far apart. I know how truly horrible it can be.

exercising helps lighten periods...i know that's probably the last thing u would wanna do on ur period, but it works. birth control definately works to have lighter shorter periods with no cramps, ask ur mom what she thinks about the pill..."Only to make ur period lighter", that's the only thing i can think of

I think that you should talk to you parent and tell them your problem and ask if they can take you to a gynecologist to get some birth control to help lighten you period. Tell your parent that it is super heavy and it is disrupting your daily life. Hope this helps.

just let your body do its thing. can't help it. but if you keep a log of your periods for a couple months and a doctor thinks its abnormal she could prescribe you birth control which will help make them lighter and less frequent

ask your doctor about birth control. If you're afraid that he'll think you're having sex, be like "My friends mom told me you can give me a pill to make my periods ligher, is this true?" or say that to your parent either way the pill is great
