A yard is 3 feet, or 91.44 centimeters. So, just shy of a Meter if you're going by metric.

What exactly is your question? Is it what's the size of the measurement called a yard in terms of inches, feet, centimeters, and meters? Then the answer is 36 inches, or three feet (12 inches to a foot thus 36 inches to three feet), or about 91.44 centimeters, or about 0.914 meters.
If the question is how big should a person's yard at home be, afraid I can't really say. Could be fairly small (say maybe 24 square feet) or it could be rather large (say a few acres).

A square yard it 3 feet X 3 feet. A cubic yard is a cube that 3 feet on all sides. Usually when your talking measurement of dirt or rock they go by the cubic yard.

If you are asking about volume, it's 3 feet by 3 feet by 3 feet for a total of 27 square feet.
Hope that helps.
