If he became a citizen of the US (for 7 years or whatever it is) he could run whenever he wanted. but as long as he is still a Native American living on the reservation, then that is his own country and has little to do with ours besides location.

Native Americans are just now getting to a point where we have a level footing with the rest of America. Besides, if a Native American ran he would have to uphold the image of "Noble Savage", because that's what America expects. It would be a hard thing to do. Add to that the favoritism the candidate's tribe would see in government and the media. His own tribe would be forced to distance themselves from him just to keep the other tribes off their backs. I wouldn't expect it soon.

On further thought I wonder why people would want an Indian for President. You didn't give any reason an Indian should be president. Are you looking for someone who support environmentalist views? A pacifist that would encourage homegrown back to nature movements? A guy that looks good with long hair and feathers? (by the way we do) If so, any leader that comes from Native America would not be what you want. Our Veterans are honored with dances and songs every time we get together. We are not pacifists. Environmentalists love to look at us as inspiration, because we respect nature. We do not respect nature for any political ideal, it is a tradition and a way of life. The traditions we live by and support are not political, they are the way we live! (AHO Twocrows)

Most of the current racism agains Native Americans is in the West. I don't think the rest of the country would have a problem with it if there were any decent candidates. You need to go for more governorships first, and then it becomes possible.

When the world has euthanized the Illuminati, the Omega Group, the Bilderbergs, the phony "chosen" groups, the phony money ponzi scam, and groups of elitists! The constitution of the republic of America will once again have rule of law and limit the powers of federal government.

Chinese Secret Society Challenges Illuminati
http://www.rense.com/general77/chinsec.htm

A Chinese secret society with 6 million members, including 1.8 million Asian gangsters, and 100,000 professional assassins, have targeted Illuminati members if they proceed with world depopulation plans.

"Think about it, the Illuminati and their top servants have a total membership of about 10,000 whereas the Chinese group has over 6 million members. That is 600 to one odds. Furthermore, the 6 million have the names and addresses of the 10,000 while the 10,000 do not know who or where the 6 million are."

I guess a good start would be if a Native American ran for president. He/She may or may not win, but there won't be one for sure if the don't run first, eh???

it's already been done.
good ol' bubba was a hidden skin. It wasn't made public till bout 2 years after he left office. His grams is a card carryin member of the CNO. Cherokee nation of oklahoma, it came out during a PBS interview.

I think a better question would be an OUTWARD INDIAN like myself. A feather in his braid long haired PowWow dancin kinda indian.

My guess, the second he became a viable candidate, someone would shoot him. After all this IS ameriKKKa innit?

Well considering that in order to have this land, most of them were cast out, killed, made to work in a casino, or forgotten, I would say that our chances are pretty darn slim.
It would be nice, though. I wonder what the chances are of a Native American woman getting elected.....

Never. With the exception of JFK, all American presidents have been WASP males.
