You're right. The royal family of England are just like everyone else, they're all humans and they die, just like you and me. But people make them appear larger-than-life because they're "celebrities" in their country. They make them feel important and be important. But these people forget that they are paying for the upkeep of the royal family. They feed, clothe and shelter them in the most luxurious and extravagant ways imaginable through their taxes.

They are famous because their family has been royalty for over five hundred years in England(UK). Why are actors, actresses, sports players etc. such a big deal in America? I do not understand why Prince William and Prince Harry cannot go out on a date or go on vacation with their girlfriends and have the paparazzi taking pictures of them every second they can? Just leave them alone. I like hearing things about them once in a blue moon, but as often as we do.

They represent the heart and soul of the country. It is impossible to imagine the UK without the Royal Family. There are many nations envious of a country with a 1000 year old tradition. You can't buy that.

No idea. But I think that if so many Americans were not obsessed with that weird bunch, then they wouldn't get the press coverage they do.
Bring on the Second Republic of England!

They are descendants of people who had the ability to change the world and the people who ruled one of the greatest countries. These are the same people you would read about in world history class and are important figures in the history of the world. The descendants of these people are the closest we have those important figures
