Ok don't panic, I think every girl has difficulties at first. When i started i realised that my period was not heavy enough to easily insert a tampon. Perhaps you need to wait a little longer, as your periods do change over time. If you can't then you will just have to practice. I find that lying on the ground naturally relaxes your pelvic muscles. Some women also have very small vaginal passages which makes it doubly as tricky.
I found that after having sex made it easier, but this is not a suggestion.
Another option is purchasing what is called a Divacup from eBay. They are a soft plastic cup that catches the blood. Check out the website.
Good luck with it hun, no women likes having periods.

Okay, so the person who answered first is being pretty insensitive, so you don't have to listen to them.
Personally, Im not exactly sure where the pain is coming from, but I can tell you that you don't have to take the tampon out when you go to the bathroom, unless you want to change it.
Im guessing your problem is that your just not ready, and that you need to wait a little longer to use a tampon. It also depends on your age, as well...
Might want to talk to your mother, grandmother, aunt, or close female adult friend.
Hope I helped! Stay calm, everyones diffrent.

that annoying paper in the box shows picture directions. try and decipher it. it's not easy. you might actually have a tipped uterus, not a bad thing, so you may have to move the tampon around while inserting to find the correct path. don't give up, we all had to figure out our bodies at some point. change the tampon every 3 - 4 hours, not necessarily every time you go pee. wear a pad with it until you get a good idea of your flow and need to change. good luck to you.

OK, first you need to relax. Try putting one foot up on the toilet. You can use the tampons with the plastic case, and those go in easier. You didn't break your hyman, despite what that jerk says. And no, you don't need to take it out when you go to the bathroom, but you should replace it every four hours and only use the size you need, which you'll learn with practice.

Hey there. Sorry you are having this problems. What you should do is use a mirror so you can see it and it will help you do it properly. And you dont need to take it out when you go to the bathroom, no. You can leave it in for up to 6 or so hours, less if it is heavy. Hope this helps you.

You might not be stretched out enough to put one in..either that, or you're tensing up as you're putting it in. Next time you try to put one in, relax your muscles down there. And no, you don't have to take it out every time. Every 4 hours should be good.
