Is the BlackBerry just a tech toy for business people to show off, or is it functional for everybody? Which device is better for students?

Blackberry is functional--not just for business people, but for any person wanting a mobile solution that combines phone, internet, and email.
Depending on the student's use and requirement, the IPAQ may be better since it is Windows-based and additional applications/programs are more readily available, like Outlook, MS Office.

I have both.. It depends on what you want.. For a student, I would recommend the HP IPAQ. It is a pocket PC and you can store all kinds of programs on it for windows.

It depends on your use.
So far as the students are concerned I think BlackBerry would be the best choice for them.
